Dealing with classmates who like to stick their nose into others' business...? What should I do? Help!?

So i had to go to this important interview on the Friday before spring break. I had a test on that day so I contacted the instructor a month ahead and he agreed to let me do the make-up exam on Monday after the Spring Break.

I didn't show up in class on that Friday. Some of my classmates who usu. sit with me went nuts-- one of them called me 8 times before she could reach me to make sure I was okay! While being touched that they really cared about me, I was frustrated. The interview was a private business that I didn't want to share with others. Some of my friends are really into gossip and I didn't want them to know about my interview. So instead telling them the truth, I told them that I was sick. Today is the day I am supposed to take the make-up exam, the girl asked me again, I said I was going to take it today. She thinks it is unfair I can make up for it. I think she is going to tell everybody about it and some peopel will eventually go confront the prof . I feel so bad...Help!

Tell these people to mind there own business. Those are you grades and that is your time. Work whatever you can with your professor. Tell that girl that called you 8 times to quit the stalking crap! 8 times that is ridiculous! I think you need to shut this girl down at the expense of hurting her feelings a little bit. You can tactfully apologize later to smooth things over if you want to.
