Why do my classmates pick on my friend?

My friend is quiet, hard-working, and from an Asian family. Sometimes my classmates make rude comments about him in front of him or behind his back. What is their problem?

people that make fun of people usualy are jealous or have low self esteem. they build themselves up by tearing others down
Reply:well it might be because he's asian, but it won't really matter all that much, because people who start gossip won't get anywhere in highschool, and might end up very lonely...
Reply:Their problem is that they are ignorant and likely so are their families.


If someone comes from a good family they have gotten past the tribal crap and get to know the person inside.


If anyone is different in any way they are prone to get picked on. Just look at a bunch of chickens. There is always one who gets the feathers pecked out of their neck.


I would speak with the principal privately without anyone knowing and ask him/her what to do about it or if they can help. If this is being done near a teacher, that teacher is not doing their job! No one should tolerate this!


It is bullying. These creeps are likely not as smart as your friend and they resent him for that as well as his Asian background. See what you can do to stop it. Go to the top. But don't tell your sweet friend. It could really hurt their feelings.


I would also not hesitate to speak out when they do it. That is the right thing to do.

Reply:they are imature and kids are mean. They will always pick on the smaller weaker kids.





unfortunately there is not much you can do about it.
Reply:their just mean... but if they do it in front of him, let them know that your his friend and tell them to knock it off... but don't ask them in any nice way or they'll just make fun of you for it.. be super serious.

Reply:As hard as this is to believe, they are probably jealous or insecure in some way. I know exactly what you're going through. They do it to my friend, who loves Japanese bands, comics, manga - all that. I don't get why they do. She is incredibly smart and just has been made fun of for too long.
