Has anyone been successful in getting Classmates.com refund their "automated" renewal of their membership?

I was shocked when I saw that my membership was "automatically" renewed by Classmates.com. When trying to rectify this, the company relies on a standard reply that members were informed that they would be placed into automated renewal (hidden deep in the fine print of the TOS). When brought to their attention, they say that they have moved the account to "manual" renewal but refuse to refund you what they charged. Any thoughts?

If you did not completely read the TOS technically you are at fault.

If classmates.com does not refund your money you have several options: Call the BBB, contact a local newspaper business editor to see if he/she will call classmates.com on your behalf (companies HATE negative business columns), or call your state's AG (Attorney General).

Classmates.com may have a long history of this, if so once you contact the AG you may have a better shot at getting your money back.

Also you can try filing a charge back on your credit card.
Reply:I HATE classmates.com (won't even capitalize their crappy name.) I post on there, when its free, but its a big scam, and you're very unlikely to "reconnect" with anyone using their service. Report It
