My 14 yr old son wants to drink beer at classmates' parties. How many cans are allowed?

He says his bigger classmates drink , with parents' consent, 4 cans the most. But my son weighs around 50 kilos only. I scolded him for drinking a can of beer before dinner. He wanted to drink with his dad who visits the kids during weekends only.

My 14 yr old son wants to drink beer at classmates' parties. How many cans are allowed?
What kind of liquor, beer or wine you allow your under-aged son to drink in your own home is your private business. You should not allow him to go to parties where other parents are serving alcohol. So much trouble can follow, that I can't even begin to describe it. What his peers are doing is not the standard you should measure his activities by. You are the parent, and he is your child and responsibility. He will probably drink a bit on the sly, but you should not sanction this behavior. Even high school students can become alcoholics. If it were me, I would allow him just one glass of wine or champagne or a single beer, on New Years Eve, in your own home and under your supervision, until he is 18 years old. Then you might consider relaxing the rules a bit, but only in your own home. Once he is in college and it is out of your control totally. Once he start to drive or reaches the age where his friends are driving, there are there things to stress to him: never drink and drive, and never ever get in a car with anyone who has been drinking (even your own adult friends!) Finally, you should discourage him from experimenting with drugs.
Reply:id say about 1 can at least the max ML i would advise him to stick to is 500ML. Report It

Reply:I agree with Dexter, root beer only
Reply:I'm sincerely hoping this question was posted by a kid pretending to be a parent because if you are a parent and need to ask a question like this on Yahoo Answers, you have more problems than anyone here can help you with. No beer for anyone under the drinking age where you live. How hard is that to figure out? And if you are trying to be a "cool" parent by allowing your kid to drink, then you truly are a lousy parent.
Reply:I would not allow my 14 year old son to drink any alcohol. It is illegal and the classmates parents could be prosecuted. There are laws against serving alcohol to minors in all 50 states. You should keep your son home and explain the facts to him. I would also check with your local law enforcement about what you can do about the friends parents that let him drink.
Reply:@ 14 u shouldnt be allowing him any. Hes getting into bad drinking habits esp if he feels he can have a can b4 dinner....even tho u told him off.
Reply:Are you for real ? is this a joke? please tell me this is a joke....First of all as soon as you found out he was hanging around kids that drink you should have stop it right away. why parents think it is ok for kids to drink just because they are monitoring it is ridiculous to me. i have 3 boys 12,13,and 16 and not one of them has got the balls and they no better then to ask me such a stupid *** question . the parents of these kids should be locked up . your kids dad also if he allows this then he needs to not see your kids ...like i said i really hope this was just a stupid joke and if not and you are for real you need parenting classes or some kind of help...
Reply:HE SHOULDNT EVEN BE DRINKING BEER YOU ARE A BAD MOTHER!
Reply:i think its ok for him to drink a little bit because if u dont then more than likely he will do it behind ur back and do it worse.

chloe xxx
Reply:Dont let him !!! I know it is easier said than done, but if he thinks he can start drinking at this age, there will be no limit ! Beleive me, I know from experience of having a son, and they will only tell you what they want you to know, and meanwhile you have no idea whats going on ! Everything from drinking to sex will be starting and there is no end to it once it begins. The parents that think that nothing is going on, are usually just in their own little world hoping its not happening, but all the while it is!
Reply:HE SHOULDN'T BE CONSUMING ANY ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Are you seriously asking this question????

NO! A 14 year old has no business drinking alcohol of any kind with or without his "older" classmates OR his father.

Look to the future my dear. Listen to the news. There are horror stories out there that I am sure you do not want to find yourself reading about your son in the future. Contact MADD, or SADD and see what those people have to say to your question.
Reply:NONE...... He is way to young. He still has 7 years till he can do that what kind of parent are you????
Reply:Zero you iddiot. You should be put in jail for allowing your child to drink and even consider "allowing" your child to drink. Parents cant "consent" for kids to drink alcohol. You cant overide the law. Your a terrible parent and person. If I knew where you lived id call the police on you in a heartbeat.
Reply:ROOT beer.
Reply:14 years old do not drink beer memorize that and tell your son that
Reply:Zero. I recommend talking to him and not letting him lead a life of drinking and booze. That's a terrible way to start live. Lead an example to your son - don't drink at home (or in front of him)
Reply:tell him not and don't let him go to that party. what adult is hosting this party and buying beer. do they know that if they get caught they will go to jail and have fines. the jail time and amt. of fines depends on how many minors they serve. it's a couple hundred for each kid and so many months for each child. they can also be charged with child endangerment and other stuff too. and if a child is caught there parents can be charged as well for allowing them to attend such a party. Does your son know that if is his caught drinking uderage. He will not be able to get his liscense when he is 16 whether he is opperating a vehicle or not. Teenage drinking isn't what it was back in our day the consequences are more severe and you can't get out of them. He's just to young and he'll have to accept that besides if he starts drinking not what's the big deal about him turning 21.
Reply:Zero...14 is way too young to be drinking
Reply:he's 14 not 18 l could understand if he was 20 or 18.
Reply:NONE..........

ZERO................

NADA.....................
Reply:Since you talk in kilos obviously you are not in USA

so it is legal for me to say :give the boy 3 as a limit and make sure you pick him up after the party.
Reply:none , he is under age ,,what is wrong with you ,,
Reply:It's your decision........not ours. He is YOUR son. Maybe if you were a good parent (you know what a good parent is...someone who does not allow a FOURTEEN YEAR OLD!!! to drink alcohol socially), you'd be able to handle your own ridiculous parenting situations.
Reply:zero!!!!!
Reply:You should be reported to the authorities!!!
Reply:what kind of parent are you??? This is an insane question and you should know the answer... NONE ZIP ZERO ZILCH... I cannot understand why you would even have the nerve to ask how many beers your 14 year old son could drink....
Reply:NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:No way 14 is way to young to be drinking beer you, it is illegal to drink under the age 21 you could be reported to the authorities I would not give him anymore beer.

Hope you listenn to me,

Someone
