A classmates father has died.He is sad, and I need ideas on how to help him feel better.?

The problem is, I don't really know him that well. He's kind of a shy kid too. How should I approach him and how should I help him.

Please be respectful in your answers.

Thanks

tell him you're there for him. dont say "i can imagine how you feel" or "i understand" cause honestly no one can understand the loss of parent until they live through it themselves. and if praying is your thing. than tell him you're praying for him.
Reply:Time.

lots of people just need time. If you give him a small card/note ...you can just sign, and say,

"Im sorry for your loss/Sending my sympathy, etc. and maybe say, "if you ever need to talk, Im here."

That way, when he is ready (he may never want to talk about it)...at least you were a person who said you be available to listen, etc. I think a lot of people dont say anything, or write a note at all, since they are unsure of what to say. hope that helps.
Reply:A death of a parent is a very difficult thing for everyone of all ages to deal with. The main thing to know is that it takes time to heal and usually a long time. Just be thoughtful %26amp; considerate. Maybe you could ask him to hang out or something and if he wants to talk about it he will.
Reply:just be there for him someone to talk to
Reply:Write him some kind of card or like something for the whole class to sign for him and with little notes on the side from each kid in the class. At this time he really needs a friend, so if you would be his friend that would be great.
