Classmates.com - Did I get Suckered?

I joined classmates.com to see if maybe I could get in touch with some of the people I used to know.


I have tried emailing approximately 5 different people through the service, but have not received a single response.


I am paranoid anymore and just don't know what to think.





Did they just not respond to me?


Are they too lazy to read their email?


Did they quit the service and the website leaves their profiles?


Did Classmates.com just say these people are there and lie to me?





Anybody else have such problems, or am I alone?

Biggest scam in the books - they tell you that so and so classmates are online, but in reality, they have their old addresses and don't update them, nor do they tell you when your friends stopped subscribing to the service.





I have done it as well and gotten burned. It's the old bait and switch via internet.
Reply:Me too! I did contact someone but I just don't trust the site. Now Ive already paid for 3 months but I might say "heck with it!" drop out and lose the money! Report It

Reply:I have never had any luck with Classmates.com. I have tried to delete my profile but I can't figure out how to do it. I never use it but keep getting spam from them.
Reply:degndave is right....I was a paid member for sometime and ran into the same thing [not all of the time, but often enough for it to send red flags up]. Recently an old high school chum of mine passed away and his wife and others of us notified classmates...well, you guessed it, his profile, pic and eaddy are still up!
Reply:The problem is that you can send e-mail and read them if you are a paying member but if you are not a paying member all you can see is that someone sent you an e-mail. You can't even read it unless you pay too. My wife and I get e-mails from classmates on classmates.com all the time but we refuse to pay to read them. We also can't respond to the e-mail and so on with out paying for a membership. The site sucks.
Reply:I did too! They lead you to believe that you can reach certain classmates but when you join you find out that you cant reach all the names on the list that is because they did not join!
