Classmates! please help to understand. i was raised in a different country.the #1 website these is classmates.

xxx. we look for our schoolmates, people we went to colleges, camps, etc. together. but more than 90% are looking for people we went to school together, our childhood friends.after talking to my 25 y.o and older american friends, i noticed that almost none of them have friends since childhood. they met their new friends in college, work or neighboorhood. most of my classmates leave in different countries, but i cannot express the happiness and joy when we find each other. why americans after graduation from high school dont keep their friends? i love the movie about romy and michelle, but in real life in america you dont meet people who still friends for that long. why? i dont want to offend anyone, please no rude/mean answers. i am posting this question in different categories, because i really want to get an opinion about this. thank you.

My parents moved around a lot when I was younger, but we always ended up back in my original hometown. And of all the people I met, those were the friends that stuck. Just a handful mind you, but genuine friends that care about each other. My closest friend, we were born just a few days apart and our moms were in the hospital together, always joke about how we must have met there, because we hit it off right from the start, I was so young, I can't even remember.

Reply:Because most of the people that I knew in high school are people that I have absolutely nothing in common with.
