You have to pay to see any and everything on that site. The one bad thing about that site is that people often create their profiles and never, ever go back and update them. You will see profiles that were created years ago and the person you're trying to contact has probably changed their email address many, many times and never bothered to update their Classmates.com profile.

My suggestion to you is...before you pay for Classmates.com, try (and I know some people may refute) MySpace.com. I'm not on MySpace to meet new people, I use the website to network with old high school friends. You will probably be amazed at home many people from school you can catch on their. MySpace even has a place where you can search for members who went to a certain school and graduated in a specific year. And best of all...its FREE.

Give it a try...don't pay for Classmates.com...you will regret it.

Did you know that you could look up your past family members on this site I actually did on Christmas Eve and found mystepmothers children after 36 years there all reunited now I took from the last city and state they lived in and there names and found them.I know this isn't really a question but I noticed someone elses question that I could not reply 2.

This has been happening since october every single day!

I can't take it anymore!

Even my friends tease me.

My two best friends leaked it out.

I can't stop being their friend coz I would have a hard time at school w/o them.

My crush doesn't talk to me anymore.

Confirm that you have a crush, and it won`t be such a big deal.They will not tease you, because they will know that they won`t get on your nerves.Maybe confirming it will be hard, but it`s worth it.if you confirm it while you laugh they will think that you are joking, and it won`t be such a big deal. I always do this, you should try. If that friend of your crush sais that your crush has a crush on you.. Maybe the friend wants to fool you , or maybe your crush has a crush on you, but he wants to conceal it. It depends, if the crush`s friend is serios or not. If he`s serios.. Be Happy, He likes you! If he isn`t a serious guy, he just wants to make you miserable.

I wouldn't cover and run. After coming clean, I'd call my local TV station/newspaper and tell them your situation. It might be an interesting human interest story and education for their viewers/readers (so that others don't make the same mistake). I live in a hurricane-prone area. The news media is always educating people on how not to get scammed (based on the misfortune of others). Perhaps another bus company will see the piece and pitch in to help you out. It's worth a try...

Seriously, if there was nothing you could do about it, most of them will not hold it against you, but against the bus company. There will always be a few that blame you, and there is nothing you can do to make them change their mind.

Reply:Its best to explain to the students that the bus company has filed for bankruptcy, which means the bus company didn't have enough money to transport with the buses anymore.

You will also HAVE to come up with the 100 dollars to give each of them their full ammount back. If you do not give the students back the money they paid for the trip, your going to have alot of angry parents on your hands.

Maybe in the future you should do more research into your plans for your students before announcing the trip.

Ok this classmate of mine is really starting to annoy me. First, she came in to class 10 minutes late reaking of 5 different smells of perfume. She sat down next to me and took out her makeup case. She put on hand lotion, lipstick and fixed her hair in her mirror. When she finally decided to take notes her cellphone buzzed. She decided to start text messaging people for a couple minutes. Next, she got out a pack out peanut butter crackers and started crunching away...until she decided to text someone again. After our break was over, she stood in the hallway talking on her cellphone loudly and came back into class late again. Over the couse of the next hour she chomped on her gum, texted people and wiggled around in her seat and bookbag numerous times in addition to putting more lotion and lipgloss on. What should I have done? I just sat there quietly but she was so distracting and I wanted to tell her so....should I have said anything?

By the way: This is college I'm talking about.

What to do about rude classmates?
There is nothing you can really say politely without the risk of her getting defensive. If you don't care about that then by all means, mention these things to her as politely as you can (even though this person obviously has no regard for being polite herself!).

If confrontation is not your style, just make a point to pack up and sit away from her the next time this happens. The hint may be taken a little personally but oh well!

Otherwise, just cross your fingers in hopes that she does not choose to sit next to you every day!

For the lateness, you could tell your professor that it is distracting and he/she may say address this. Some are more lenient on being on time than others.

Reply:Next time she comes into class late or not ask her politely to sit somewhere else or you could get up and move. People like this are to wrapped up in themselves to notice they are being rude, they must be told. But, be ready to take the backlash from her, I'm sure you'll get an earful...

Reply:you might mention you are attending a class in law enforcement and drug awareness, ask this person if they have noticed if anyone is selling crack or speed.....there is a 1 800 number you could call and get a reward for turning them in....tell her these classes are only on Saturday and wouldn't interfere with her college classes if she wants to join you...she will probably get uncomfortable and move...or drop the class...when you find someone that rude they are probably not paying attention to anyone around them....including their own body language....also you could tell her all you hear in class is her, is it o.k. to tone down the constant movement stuff....good luck...

Frankly, all of the behaviors that you've described were probably only super-distracting to you because you were sitting close to her. Perhaps next time you could just get up and move to another seat.

Is the message sent to their email account by the sender or do they have to check the classmate.com website to find out. Im asking because I didnt know I had to be a paying member for them to read it and I dont want them to pay a member fee. Has this happened to anyone?

Generally these websites, send the alert mail to the person to their registered mail id - about your message. Your friend has to log in and read the message. It does work.
Reply:I am not a paying member and I sent an e-mail to a person (not a paying member either) on Classmates about a month ago. Classmates will send an e-mail to the person letting them know they have a message waiting. But here's the catch...you have GOT to be a PAYING member to be able to read any messages.

My friend never read the message. You know the funny thing is that I got an e-mail a few weeks back that said I had a message waiting from him. But when I looked at my Classmates outbox it said the message I had sent to my friend was unread. It's a scam. Try to find another way to contact your friend. My friend eventually found me on facebook. :-)

Depends on whether you are using this as a subject of a sentence or the object.

Subject:

My classmates and I went to the park.

(You would not say, "Me went to the park", would you?

Then don't say "My class mates and me went to the park".

Object:

The teacher sent my classmates and me out of the room.

You would not say, The teacher sent I out of the room".

Prepositional phrase:

The teacher gave an assignment to my classmates and me.

The tower was painted by my classmates and me.
Reply:The other answers are partially right, but it depends on the sentence it is in. But always, the person that isn't you comes first out of courtesy.

But, grammatically speaking, using "I" or "me" depends on the sentence surrounding it.

If the sentence is one where, without the other person, you would say "me", then it stays "me".

for example:

The cookie is for me.

The cookie is for him and me.

INCORRECT: The cookie is for him and I.

It stays 'me' because you wouldn't say "the cookie is for I."

But, if the sentence is one where you would use "I" if it was only you, then you would use "I" for one with both.

for example:

I like the cookie.

He and I both like the cookie.

INCORRECT: He and me both like the cookie.

This is because you would never say "Me like the cookie."

Okay, so my classmate died after she got in a horrible car accident. I didn't know her all that well, but she was sweet to everybody. I'm having a pretty hard time dealing with the grief. My entire school is in mourning, and I don't have many people to turn to for comfort. My boyfriend doesn't go to school with me, so i can't get it from him. If you would just take some time out of your day to help one person deal with their loss, i would appreciate it so much. If you are willing to talk to me about her death or anything that might get my mind off it, please email or IM me. This is a terrible tragedy for my entire school. She was a junior and her prom is tomorrow night. I am a freshman, but she touched my heart in so many ways. Thanks

Oh...I'm really very sorry for your loss.

Really, losing someone is one of life's hardest things to endure. You should go to your family, a pastor, even a counselor. God hears your cries too. you can't hide that hurt forever. I'll say a prayer for you, your friend all those who are strucken hardly by this.

Helping others always helps me when I am in pain. Consider what you might do for her family, as they are in even more pain than you are. Could you write them a letter telling them what she meant to you? Send a flower arrangement? Ask your church to set up a prayer circle? Offer to run errands for them, like walking the dog, taking out garbage, washing the dishes? get your friends together for a candle light vigil with prayers?

Please also talk to your folks. They would want to hear how hard this is for you.

Honey...death is hard on everyone. My step-sister died in a terrible car crash with her boyfriend last year. She was 16...she'd had her liscence for a month...

Even if your boyfriend doesn't go to school with you, he could still lend an ear. he should be there for you when you need him. They should be setting up some grief counselers at your school soon...you can go and talk to one of them.

My advice to you is make the most of your life. Live every day to it's fullest because you never know which one will be your last. Appreciate the beauty in life. Stop and smell a flower. Lay in the grass and look at the clouds. Blow bubbles. Smile at a stranger. Simple things make people's lives better. you'll get through this.
Reply:l'm sorry for your lose, three of my friends passed away when I was in high school. Two from car accidents.

It is very difficult to deal with and I still think about them all the time. I don't know how to help you through this other then to say that the pain gets easier with time. Just hold on to the memories that you do have of her.

How to Deal With Depression!

Jeremiah 20:7-18

Christians don’t get depressed do they? Oh yes, they do! Godly people since Adam and Eve have struggled with depression. Moses was at a point in his life when the Israelites had built a golden calf to worship that he asked God to go ahead and take his life.

David cried out in the Psalms, “O my soul, why are you downcast within me?” Elijah, in 1 Kings 19:4, after his great victory on Mt. Carmel, fell into a great depression and asked God to kill him and end his misery. The subject of our study today, Jeremiah, who you could make a case for being the greatest prophet in the Bible, suffered greatly from depression!

So, if you are feeling depressed sometimes, just know that you are in the “miserable majority”! I also want you to know that there is hope for you in God’s Word for dealing with depression when you find yourself surrounded by it! Let’s read our portion on Scripture now:

“You deceived me, Lord, and I was really fooled. You are stronger than I am, and you have defeated me. People never stop sneering and insulting me. You have let me announce only destruction and death. Your message has brought me nothing but insults and trouble. Sometimes I tell myself not to think about you, Lord, or even mention your name. But your message burns in my heart and bones, and I cannot keep silent. I heard the crowds whisper, “Everyone is afraid. Now’s our chance to accuse Jeremiah!” All of my so-called friends are just waiting for me to make a mistake. They say, “Maybe Jeremiah can be tricked. Then we can overpower him and get even at last.” But you, Lord, are a mighty soldier, standing at my side. Those troublemakers will fall down and fail—terribly embarrassed, forever ashamed. Lord All-Powerful, you test those who do right, and you know every heart and mind. I have told you my complaints, so let me watch you take revenge on my enemies. I sing praises to you, Lord. You rescue the oppressed from the wicked. Put a curse on the day I was born! Don’t bless my mother. Put a curse on the man who told my father, “Good news! Now folks, anyway you want to cut it that is an individual that is severely depressed! Wow! Have you ever felt like that? Well, join the club!

Some of the reason why we get depressed

1. Some depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the body.

It is a well-documented medical fact that certain chemical imbalances in your body will cause depression. If you find yourself in a long period of depression you should consult your doctor. There are many medicines that are available now to help ease or eliminate this kind of depression.

2. You perceive that someone you trust very much has deceived ou.

That could be God, as in Jeremiah’s case, your spouse, a close friend, your boss, a co-worker or a classmate. Something has happened in your life that you perceive as a betrayal. This can cause you to feel very depressed.

In Jeremiah’s case, he thought that God had really deceived him. For over 20 years Jeremiah had been declaring God’s message to the people. He told them that they needed to repent or they would be destroyed! Yet, not one single person had responded to his message!

Imagine preaching for 20 years and not seeing one person respond to your message! That would put you straight into a bummer!

3. You find yourself in a situation or circumstance that you have no control over, or power to change.

Jeremiah felt like he was stuck! He wanted to bail out, but God was stronger than he was, therefore he could not alter the situation he found himself in. Day after day of the same exact thing! Many of us have faced similar times in our lives and experienced the exact same result. Depression!

4. You are the object of constant ridicule!

When people are always making fun of you, or you are the butt of their cruel jokes day after day, it is a terrible blow to your self-esteem! When I was in the Air Force, we had a guy in our unit that wasn’t very lucky with the ladies. At one time, he had asked 18 different girls out on a date without ever hearing the word “yes”. We dogged him unmercifully over it. On the 19th try, a girl finally said yeas, and we formed a victory line outside the barracks for him. He laughed it off, but you know that had to hurt him very deeply inside!

We’ve all been in this situation at one time or another in our lives. If you haven’t yet, you will. It’s just a matter of time!

5. Your life and the dreams you’ve had for it are not coming true, and further more, probably won’t.

Jeremiah was called by God to be a prophet at the tender age of 16. He had big dreams! He pictured himself being used by God to turn the nation of Israel around! It’s now 20 years later, and not one single thing has changed in the country! Not one! He starts feeling that his entire life has been a waste! All gone for nothing!

Have you ever had these feelings? Oh, we’ve all had big dreams haven’t we? We dream of making a real difference in the world around us! We dream of getting that record deal and touring the world, singing and declaring the “Good News”! Or some other dreams of making it to the top of some profession, inventing the cure for cancer, hitting a home run in the bottom of the 9th to win the World Series, or making the last shot of a basketball game to win it!! What was yours?

6. You are tired and burned out!

Sometimes we just lose our perspective on things. We burn out! We get tired! When we do, it is very easy to fall into depression because we think things are never going to change!

What are some of the symptoms of depression? (See verse 10; 14-18 again)

1. Paranoia – We are afraid of everything!

“I heard the crowds whisper, “Everyone is afraid. Now’s our chance to accuse Jeremiah!” All of my so-called friends are just waiting for me to make a mistake. They say, “Maybe Jeremiah can be tricked. Then we can overpower him and get even at last.”

We start thinking that everyone is out to get us! Even our friends and family! We become afraid to act out because we fear making a mistake. In short, we become paralyzed!

2. Anger/Short Temper – We are angry at everything and everyone!

“Put a curse on the day I was born! Don’t bless my mother.”

Jeremiah 20:14 (CEV)

Jeremiah was blaming everyone for his troubles, even his own mother. It was her fault for bringing him into this world! Do you see how ridiculous we can become when we’re depressed?

3. Bitterness – We can become poisoned to the world and people around us!

Put a curse on the man who told my father, “Good news! You have a son.”

Jeremiah 20:15 (CEV)

Jeremiah didn’t even know this person, yet in his bitterness and depression he lashed out at him too. If he had the opportunity to meet this man, in his state of mind, he would have rejected him, thus losing the opportunity for whatever God brought the man into his life for.

Bitterness hurts only us in the end. Bitterness costs us dearly!

4. Vindictiveness – We destroy relationships in an effort to make ourselves feel better!

“May that man be like the towns you destroyed without pity. Let him hear shouts of alarm in the morning and battle cries at noon.”

Jeremiah 20:16 (CEV)

He wanted God to punish that man just like God did the cities Sodom and Gomorrah! Wow! He wanted God to rain down fire and brimstone on a guy he didn’t even know! He was simply lashing out, wanting others to feel the same kind (or worse) of pain that he was feeling!

Have you ever been here before? I hope you never get there, but depression, left untreated, can drive you to this place! Oh, there is one more place, even worse!

5. Suicidal Tendencies

“He deserves to die for not killing me before I was born. Then my mother’s body would have been my grave.”

Jeremiah 20:17 (CEV)

Sometimes the pain can be so great that you think the only way to get better is to die! My friend, that is not so! Suicide is a permanent fix to a temporary problem! There is hope! There is help!

Resources available to combat and defeat depression.

1. Recognize and realize that God is still working in your life!

Even though God may be silent right now, He still loves you and is working in your life! He has not deserted you! He has not given up on you! He’s still working His will and His way in your life!

Even Jesus faced depression! On the cross, while he was dying bearing our sins, God had to turn His back because He could not look upon the sins of the world. Jesus cried out, “My God! My God! Why have you forsaken me?”

This was the Scripture that Jesus read in the Synagogue the day he declared his public ministry. These are the things God has promised to give you through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior! I underlined one part of that Scripture though. He promised to give “the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”

Understand something that is very important to you and me. A garment is something that we choose to put on or not! Each morning when you go to the closet to get dressed, you deliberately choose what garments you are going to put on! So it is with praise! You must make the choice to praise God! If you do, He promises to life your spirit of heaviness!!!

It is impossible to truly praise God and remain unhappy! If you make the choice to rejoice, God will lift you up, hold you in His arms and love and comfort you! Praise is God’s resident address! There are other promises God has made to you as well. Get out your Bible and begin to research these. Claim each one as God reveals them to you. Dwell on them rather than your depression and circumstances. You will be lifted up!

6. Get help by talking with someone you know that you can trust!

Depression happens! It is an inevitable part of life, but it doesn’t have to be a permanent part of life! There is help! There is hope! There are no instant cures or quick fixes unless God so wills, but remember this my friend. He will see you through it! If you are facing depression today, begin the road back right now. Tell God all about it!

Scream and yell if you need to! Get it all out! Vent it! Trust me, God is big enough to take it! He knows you inside and out! Trust Him! Let Him comfort and guide you! See a doctor if your depression has lasted a long time. You know God uses them too!

tell him you're there for him. dont say "i can imagine how you feel" or "i understand" cause honestly no one can understand the loss of parent until they live through it themselves. and if praying is your thing. than tell him you're praying for him.

lots of people just need time. If you give him a small card/note ...you can just sign, and say,

"Im sorry for your loss/Sending my sympathy, etc. and maybe say, "if you ever need to talk, Im here."

That way, when he is ready (he may never want to talk about it)...at least you were a person who said you be available to listen, etc. I think a lot of people dont say anything, or write a note at all, since they are unsure of what to say. hope that helps.

I'm a senior in high school. I have gym last block of the day. Today I was late getting back into the locker room to change b/c I was talking with my coach. The height that the coaster can reach depends upon its velocity and mass. Its mass is constant for a single ride, thus the effect of mass is removed, thus only velocity matters. The gravity of earth pulls it down, but if its velocity is enough to neglect the gravity then the third summit can be made higher than the second one.

You can understand it by considering that you made a roller coaster whose 1st summit is 200m high. th second summit is only 10m high and the third summit is 25m high. Then it is possible for the coaster to successfully cross the 2nd and the 3rd summit.

Actually, I am a Filipino who can't speak the native language (Filipino). I know some words though. I have been living in the Philippines all my life. I had a american relative (RIP) who taught me to speak english thus, I was deprived from speaking Filipino.

So, should I start training myself to speak the language? What are your interpretations? I even don't know the national anthem itself. I know, I am extremely unpatriotic to my homeland. So when answering this try not curse with vulgar words.

I know my description sucks, but my memory is very vague on it, bear with me:

Ok, so from what I can remember it's sometime around the time Goonies came out and I don't recall if it was very popular, I think I may have saw it on TV or something.

Basically, there's this kid who is kind-of a Ferris Bueller type slacker and somehow the plot involves his teacher and classmates getting taken by a woman I THINK and he has to go save them all. I remember something about a mansion where he was driving to in a nice car, perhaps a ferari. All I can recall is that near the end they were in some cage I think being lowered into a substance and he had to save them. But basically he was like James Bond but more in a comedic sense. Was it wrong of me to tell the professor I feel stupid in her class in front of all my classmates?

I just started a new class. The work is hard, the discussion is hard. Everytime I participate in discussion, people don't listen and change the subject. I told the professor at the end of class that I feel stupid in her class because I am new and plus I feel this way because it seems that nobody elaborates on what I just said (they cut me off).

I told her that I as a person feel stupid in her class and that sometimes I really want to say something but I don't say it because I feel that if I did the class would think I was stupid.

I made a 4.0 GPA in my master's degree. This is the Ph.D program and I am the rookie, so I guess what I say holds no weight, but was I wrong to confess this to the professor and my classmates after the class ended? Did I probably leave a negative impression of myself?

I don't think you were wrong to say how you feel. It's always best to let people know how you're feeling so they can change their behavior if they want.

I doubt the professor will have any prejudences against you unless he/she is a generally overbearing person. Some classmates may have a poorer opinion of you, but surely some will understand. In fact, there's a good chance you were speaking for more than yourself. It takes guts to do say what you did, and there will likely be those who are thankful you said it.

Are you the only rookie in the class? In my experience it's often hard to learn the new lingo when you start out anywhere, and maybe that's part of why you're struggling. You're obviously a very intelligent woman, so it's not that you ARE stupid. But we all feel that way at one time or another.

As for the discussion, it sounds like you're in a particularly vocal group. Maybe they know that the professor is especially fond of students who speak up so they are all vying for the top spot. If so, you've trumped them all by pointing out that you're not getting a chance to speak. It will be interesting to see if they give you time at your next class. The professor may take the opportunity to layout new rules too.

But if you still find it hard to speak up, you're going to have to learn how to do it. I don't know what you're studying, but being heard may be an important part of the discipline. If it's not, give it your best shot anyway.

I am dyslexic and it is so hard to comprehend anything in a class room. I would spend 40 hours a week studying while the others spent 4 to 7 hours studying. My g.p.a. was 2.5 and theirs were much higher. Ya know, I am just as happy with my hard earned 2.5 as you are with your 4.0. All we must do is our best. I asked questions that I thought would get laughs because they should have been easy to answer. Those questions were not thought of as stupid because most students wanted to ask but they thought the question was stupid. Stupid is as stupid does?
Reply:Sorry to tell you this, but I think you made the wrong decision in telling her the way you did. You probably learned in your master's program that you have to play the game and it's 10 times more important your Ph.D program.

I think a more mature approach would've been to go to her office hours, tell her your problem, ask her for her feedback on how you can participate in the class better.

On the plus side, this really isn't that big of a deal, and people will forget about it soon.

uhm okay just to burst this out....i'm tired of the attitudes of these poeple around me...look, my parents are badly eccentric..i have a dog and is fond of running everywhere, just to roam around. so ive got to keep the door narrowly open when i go out of every room where my pet is in. but m parents, i think theyre sick of just controlling the opening of the door whenever they go out! so in result, i have to run through our house till the next street, just to run and to grab my dog. and then theyll blame me! i mean they already know what my dog does, then theyll do that? and is it really hard to remember and do the opening of the door narrowly ?narrow enough for my dog not to go out? and then the next day, ill just know that half of the market knows it, mind you, that it is all my fault...but my reason not for chaining my pet is i love her and i expect that my parents are able to do very BASIC THINGS. hai....my sister, plastic...my classmates, bully, immatured, ...maid, plastic...tsk

I have a daughter who is in elementary school and she tells me that alot of her classmates make fun of her for wearing glasses. We have to wait until she is 12 to get contacts-she has been wearing glasses since the age of 2. It breaks my heart to see her cry and for her to tell me that kids call her a nerd, geeky, four eyes, and the list goes on and on. Just need a little help to build up her self esteem. My husband and I tell her how pretty she is and that alot of kids are jealous, but kids can be so cruel. I also told her that alot of famous and smart people throughout history wore glasses. We have also spoken to her teacher. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately many people have not taught children to respect others. I would take it up with the teacher and the principle of the school. Maybe they could hold a class on respect. Children can be taught that being made fun of can be hurtful. In the case of glasses, each child could have to look through something to make their vision blurred and be taught that glasses help you to read. I would give each child a very blurred text to read and then make them read a story with the blurred vision and see how it feels to be laughed at. Let all the children read this way and then let your daughter read with her glasses to show that sometimes glasses are necessary. I would do this in class if I ever saw or heard a student making fun of another child. They could have their ears blocked and be taught that hearing aides help you hear. It is sad that so many children make fun of kids who are different. I believe it is the responsibility of the parents, teachers and principles to help children learn respect. God bless your daughter and I hope you have taught her that it is not her it is the ignorance of the other children. She should stand proud.
Reply:That stinks, and I too find it surprising because my daughter is 10 and so many kids wear glasses. meet with the teacher again and let them know you mean business (my daugher's had teachers who had an absolute no insult/bully rule and others who were afraid to make waves unless the parents stepped in firmly), tell the teacher if they don't do anything, next step principal, make sure you document first meeting with teacher, if prinicipal doesn't stop it, move to superintendent. This is still considered bullying and for whatever reason your daughter is showing a weakness to the bullying, i.e. not snapping back with some comment to shut them up or ignoring it so they see her as a target and we all know what kids are like. So, bottom line, the teacher/principal needs to set obvious consequences to the next person bullying your daughter, end of discussion. Remember, the old days are gone and you need to advocate for your child. Anyone who says kid will be kids need to realize that we have grown as a society and will no longer accept the sometimes life long insecurities that can result from cruel, mis-aligned kids.
Reply:I still don't get how kids are so stupid about glasses. There are SO many cute frames for girls now that there's no reason to be embarrassed anymore (your daughter's not stupid- the other kids are). Eyeglasses are incorporated into runway fashion. Watch any TV show (especially stuff like CSI), and you'll see the main characters sporting uber trendy sunglasses. Glasses are now considered a fashion accessory rather than a crutch. Helping your daughter understand that might help build her confidence. I personally wear contacts most of the time, but sometimes I like to wear my glasses because they're so darn cute. Other than just pointing out how cool glasses can be, I don't know what to tell you. I teach 3rd grade and am young. Whenever I know a student is going to get glasses for the first time, I make it a point to wear mine (I'm still considered cool by the kids, lol). I also offer to clean students' glasses every now and then. It becomes a normal affair in my classroom to where no one thinks anything about it. Perhaps if you could get her teacher in on the act it would help things.

Reply:This happened to my daughter. KIDS ARE just mean sometimes. I am sorry to say that it doesn't stop until she gets contacts. It just keeps getting easier for her to deal with is all. Sad...but true. As soon as my daughter could handle the contacts we got them for her. She was SO HAPPY! However...that's not going to help your daughter now. IF she can have her ignore them and that's the hardest thing of all to do. So sorry....I "know" how hard this is for her: and you.

Reply:Start finding pictures of beautiful women in glasses. She might need some proof. And make sure that her glasses are as stylish as possible (with in budgeting reason of course). Many celebs wear glasses even when they don't need them. Show her these pictures, it might help. Other than that, keep being supportive and see if you can get her in girl scouts or dance if she's not already. Perhaps in a different environment other girls may treat her nicer.
Reply:I had to get glasses in the second grade, and I wasn't happy about it....I got made fun of terribly. I would also come home crying, my parents were distraught, they didn't want to see me in pain.

My dad, told me that they were just jealous and that I should ignore them but when they called me four eyes, just look back at them and say, four eyes are better than two and walk away. Go back to the teacher and let her know that it really bothers your child and make sure that she takes steps to prevent it. It is not okay for her to allow this to go on. Many Japanese come for say 1 weeek, one month or even a year, or whahtever . They come as foreign students many times. And they meet foreigners studying in their ESL class .. I believe they are comfortable and its enough for them. So do they even care about meeting the American people.

First off don't lose your Vietnamese friends. See if your school has an international club of some kind or talk to a guidance consular about clubs to join. An international club would be great since you make lots of friends who can help you better your English and I'm sure there will be some person like me who loves to help out new people and foreigners. From what I can tell though, you have great English skills. Good luck!
Reply:Well its not a matter of making friends, you could pick up a book and start reading it out loud, take speech class. Trust me I am shy and I do know how to speak english, but I still don't do very well with my social skills. I can hold more of an intellect conversation verses a social one, maybe your hanging around the wrong people when you try to get friends. Don't be afraid to say hi. Thats all it takes. One word

As for speaking English, just say what you want to say, folks will try to understand you. If you want someone to slow down when they're speaking, just say so! Volunteering isn't the only thing you can do, but it's a good way to meet a variety of young people that are typically both nice and outgoing.

Try to make friends in a place where people are not in a hurry, like a Laundromat or cafe, where people have a long time to wait. It is better to ask "Can you speak Chinese?" than to ask "Will you speak English with me?" You can also start a conversation with: "Are you also shy?" or Ask for a date for a cup of coffee or tea... "Would you like to talk over a cup of tea?" "Do you have time for a donut?" Once you can sit and relax it will also be easier to speak in English. Go to a bar (if you're 18) and take a note pad with you and write down what other people say to open a conversation. They will be curious about your writing because nobody writes in a bar. You tell them you want to learn opening lines to meet people. "How do you meet a stranger?" You will ask...and start writing down their suggestions. I am a 37 aged Asian woman, I still want to further my studies overseas. Most of the students who like studying are around 17 to 25. I felt uneasy at class in the past. (1) I want my classmates' average age at least over 30, mostly males. Is there any 1-2 years full time course available? Which subject, which country?

I wish to meet my right one (boyfriend or future husband-westerners) at class. (2) Men's favorite subjects such as computer, design, electronic engineering, electrical engineering, marketing, business administration are not my cups of tea. Reply:This is called a port wine birthmark. Years ago they couldn't be removed but now they can be removed by laser. This, of course, must be performed by a doctor. Talk to your parents about the distress the teasing is causing you and ask them to take you to see a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon.

My grandmother had some on her neck and face and she proudly called them beauty marks, and the way she behaved, you almost wished you had beauty marks as well. Look for MAX FACTOR pancake makeup. It comes in a round semi flat container looks similar to a compact. This make up is water based and it covers really well. It is not like trying to use a liquid foundation it covers much better. You can also get two shades ...one very light in color and the other more to your natural skin tone, apply the very light over your birthmark then apply the matching shade all over including over the light color. Blend it in and you should get very good results. This make up is usually applied with a sponge. Add a few drops of water to the container and stir it around to soak it up onto your sponge. Just play with it some you'll get a feel for it.

Reply:Hello, I was born with the same thing, but I was born with three of those type of birthmarks. One on my jaw line, another on my lower back and the third just above my right ankle. The doctor got them off with dry-ice. I don't know if they would do that now adays. They left a little scar that can hardly be seen. Just thought I would give you a little support.

I put him in playschool, but the teachers are telling me he's been pinching the classmates who won't share toys with him. I've tried to talk to him, but he doesn't want to remember it when I ask. How do I stop this behaviour? And how will I know it worked? Thanks.

at 5 years old, my teacher nick-named me as a big-mouth(people who speak too much). cuz I made a girl cried. I accused the girl of not pee-ing. (lol I still dont understand why she is like that. she went into a bathroom, 3 seconds and she came out.)

at 7 years old, I was accused as a thief in front of everyone because I borrowed a book from the school library in October and I forgot I have borrowed the book. In around April, I found the book and brought it to school. my teacher yelled at me in front of all of my classmates (25 ppl)

at 9-11 yrs old, I was isolated my all of my classmates because I was underweight. they claimed I was an ET.I should not be welcomed.

at 12 years old, I went to a new school. I liked someone, and I treated him really nice. People started calling me a s1ut. A s1ut who like whoever sitting next to her, simply cuz the guy sitting next to me was liked by me. (WTF if he didnt sit next to me, i wont have a chance to know him right??)

I'm in a figure drawing class right now...all of the models we've had are from an agency that the art department works with...many of the models have been older, and none have been students from my school. We've had both female and male models...and for the most part, only people in our class are allowed to attend, unless the model doesn't mind someone else attending the class.

Generally, I don't think it would be appropriate to have a member of the class pose nude. Possibly clothed, it wouldn't be a problem. Usually though, it's best to hire a professional. They're skilled with standing still for long periods of time, and holding interesting poses.
Reply:My daughter did it in college and got paid a small fee for doing it. It was very tasteful and she was not embarrassed at all. She also won the wet T-shirt contest at the Redwoods Bike Run a few years back so she is not a shy girl to begin with. I'm proud of her just the same. Reply:I was a fine art major and took life drawing and there were guys and girls in the class. My class was an eight hour studio with an hour break in the middle. None of the models in my class were a classmate unless they took the course at a different time. When i was in college the models made six dollars an hour. Some of the models were outsiders i don't know who hired them but we had one older man in his sixties. That was the day you wanted to get to class early so you weren't in the front row. I remember just getting out of high school and starting college and knowing i had to draw naked people i was nervous but after the first five minutes it was all about getting the draws done. My first day the professor kicked two guys out for laughing and giggling.

I want to hold a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament sometime around the second week of July. It should be around 15-maybe 35(an estimate after taking a survey). $5 to play and the winner gets 75% of all the money that comes in. This is not a pro tournament but a tourny between friends, friends of friends, siblings, and classmates. What are the do's and don'ts of Smash tournaments? What are some other helpful tips about hosting such an event seeing this is my first time.

First off decide the rules.

Will this be a teams AND singles tournament or just singles? (1v1s)

Usually tourneys are double elimination and sets are best 2 out of 3 matches.

No items is pretty much a must.

4 stock, 8 minute time limit is standard.

Do NOT use the in-game tournament mode. It is really really bad.

What stages are available to play on? What are banned? You need to have some neutral stages that are on random pick. Loser will pick a stage for the next round of play out of the neutrals and also counterpick stages.

Pot distribution is usually:

1st 60

2nd 30

3rd 10

But there all alternatives (70/20/10, 65/25/10, etc.)

Match rules usually look something like this::::::

Order of play

Game 1--

Each player chooses a controller slot.

Each player has 30 seconds to select a character or to call "Double Blind" selection.

You may not change characters once it is declared.

If a character is not selected after 30 sec., "Double Blind" selection is mandatory.

Stage knock-outs are declared.

All players must agree to the first stage, otherwise it is "Random" (see Random Select Stages listed above)

If the time limit runs out, winner is the player with the most stock.

Make rules clear and keep the tournament organized. Use something like TIO ( http://www.lbpolymusic.com/tio/download.... ) to organize matches and make the brackets for you (saves you a LOT of trouble, trust me).

Reply:The best suggestion I can come up with is to use SSBM's Tournament mode %26amp; set it the number of players that register (up to 64 players).

You will need to declare what type (Stock or Time) before you start registration. Stock is consider a slower pace as each match can go for a few hours. Timed matches are probably better in your case as it gives you a timeline that you can manage... I would suggest placing a time limit of 2-5 minutes per match.

You'll also want to tell your participants that it's a one-on-one, single elimination tournament. So if they lose, they're out of the tournament %26amp; there's no rematches permitted. That you can claim that it's the how the game is set up.

Just make sure that everybody in the tournament places their initials (as the naming system only allows 4 letters) in the game %26amp; select the character they want... assuming their desired character is available (NOTE: Unlock ALL Characters prior to the tournament for minimal complaints).

After that, let the game handle the rest! It'll announce which two players are up (using the naming system with Initials will help) %26amp; may the better player win!

As for hosting, you'll probably want to use a fairly public spot that can handle the crowd you're considering. Also, make sure you have a fair number of spare controllers as it's the tournament director's responsibility to provide working controllers... as well as the TV %26amp; Game System if the spot you've selected doesn't have it.

Reply:Well if your planning to invite classmates, try to host it at school (if its still open) post fliers, and do something like "if you bring game, gamecube, and television you don't need to pay." that way it would be easy to get a lot of player and equipment.

Then, find a big place were all those people can be comfortable and find some side-fun, for those who are not playing at the momment. DONT LET ITEMS BE USED. let everyone show how they play with no handicaps. an the last match could be a first one too win two times, out of a three match final rule, to make thing interesting. I'd probably end up thinking less of the classmates who have a low opinion of the guy I like, but then I'd probably just think they weren't feeling up to par themselves and I'd feel sorry for them (but that's my INFP personality there). It wouldn't change my mind at all, really.

Hmm. First thing's first, brush up on your grammar and spelling. It will make you seem that much more attractive to begin with. Hopefully you oral communication is better than your written. No offense meant, just an observation with constructive criticism. Second, numbers 8, 7, 5, and 4 are not great. You want to make casual conversation so stay away from talking about dating, etc. Number 5 is honestly just pathetic. Talking about your basic every day stuff is fine. It's starting out slow and working the conversations into more in depth subjects. Good luck.

How could your family know how your boyfriend feels?! It's impossible for them to make that conjecture. They obviously don't like him, which is something completely different to consider, but they have no right to say that he's using you or that he doesn't love you.

There's lots of websites aimed at getting people together, especially alumni from different schools. Do a google search on alumni registers, or something like that. I think classmates.com is one. That will give you student's names from different years at your school, but it won't be a complete list, it'll only be people who have registered.

One more thing, you could always go the school library and look up previous yearbooks.

Why on earth would a teacher have boys and girls changing in front of each other???????????? This is totally NOT acceptable. It is completely different if boys change in front of boys and girls in front of girls. I have NEVER heard of a school that has co-ed locker rooms. Possibly your brother has more of a problem changing in front of the girls? THIS would be understandable. I would suggest that your parents go speak with the principal if the PE teacher does in fact have a co-ed change policy. I can't imagine that most parents would agree to such a thing at such a young age. It is actually perverted on the PE teachers part. Reply:I would ask the kid(your brother) to pretend he is front of a mirror and there are a lot of people around. If for some reason he feels that he is being watched and ridiculed, then I would let him be for now. Also, if for some reason, the teacher is requesting that all students change in the same lockerrooms, then I know this as a problem. When kids first start out in puberty they don't quite understand that their poise and demeanor(body changes) are something to be admired by others and that the peers from other opinions can create harm on their self image later on. Plus at a young vulgnerable age, they are able to know right from wrong but it becomes a question to how often they are being asked to do something that don't seem fit to them.

My son was asking this same question to me last week and as his mother, I told him do what he feels is best for him and to tell the Principal, not teacher if someone mocks him for his size, etc. and that the teacher is not correcting it properly.

If after all that and nothing seems to work, I would check school policy on the co-ed forums. I mean right now, no kid in thier right mind should change in front of their peers if not necessary,I mean if they know it is like doing total harm to themselves.

The teacher in this question, in my opinion can be acting on child-molestation and may be one of those lude perverted creeps who needs to be repremainded and fired at once if he/she sees this as their own personal sex act by a minor. The Principal should check all classes if possible to see if a child comes up with such a query. Then if there is, go to the school board and take the matter to the local authorities for further investigation.

Bet you don't recall the stories of the gym teacher who used his boy students for lude acts? That matter was resolved because the school and the authorities were on to the teacher for years. To gain substantial evidence though they had to have enough evidence with the kids and their parents as witnesses. Sad scenario yes I know, the poor kids suffered in the long run.

Remember too, for some teens it takes years into adulthood to learn that it only becomes accpeptable to change in front of their peers when you are ready to acknowledge your body parts. As any child knows, they don't quite perceive the world as that big yet. It isn't until adulthood when one journeys outside the box. I mean when one knows it is right to go about change. In this case take the leap and change in front of the other like that of married people.

Right now, all kids begin learning the right social skills to be able to be equipped with personal sanctitiy. I mean in thier lives whether social or in religious form a person has to gain self control young to be able to go over who they dress in front of, that being only themselves and no other.

As a kid, babies sometimes get bathed together because they have no idea what is going on with each other. Plus men can change in front of each other men as women do because this is what happened long ago but touching as babies is an innocent act and is not all an off-limit thing.

On the personal level at this point in time, if for some reason a boy has to say scratch his genitalia in front of another boy and the other boy touched him, well then that is crazy. Only a boy can touch his own genitals out of curiousity but letting another do so is completely out of character and is all wrong. The reason for this is because they are coming into maturity a tad.

For those who don't grasp reality, their perverted act shows one that this act is their acceptable choice and who cares if I am willing of the consequences to the action. Also a pervert who fails to see the act, is against the law.

For this case, I think the teacher is getting an arousement on watching the kids do their thing.

I had a gym teacher many moons ago who was a lady and when the girls changed she was like right on top of you. It was like she admired everyone but she always kept her distance up to an extent. She knew step out of line and she was to get an earfull. One day, she got cocky with me because I refused to take a shower. Now this was because other kids were always saying how I looked and never left me alone. Besides that, I could not deal with standing in a showerstall that had only one big wall between us. I had to tell my Principal that she was cramping my style and I could not shower with a person hovered over me and I was always made to cry. she never molested me but watching her watch me felt that way since I was at a young age and it was horrifying.

I also want to ask, did you brother ever tell you someone else touched him in a manner that was inappropriate? he can be repressing memories if so and don't want to be watched because this reminds him too much of that time when all was a tragedy.

I made a big mistake at a party with some of my junior classmates. I feel very frustrated. I lost all dignity adn want to move. Me and two guys were playing an adult board game with 5 girls from our cheerleading team at one of the girls houses. In the end, I had to get nude in front of the others. All 7 of them were sitting on the couch when I walked in naked. I had to stand that way for 5 minutes. Well, when I came out, they (even the guys) were mocking my half inch penis and then as time went on, I got an erection of 3.5 inches. The girls were laughing hysterically waving their pinkys at each other and to make matters worse the two other guys, pulled their trunks down and showed they were twice as big as me. I am getting ridiculed by everyone at school. Should I tell on them to my principal?

Global warming is simply human activities on/in the universe. Revelation 16:8-9. It is as old as mankind. Adam and eve first discovered fire and at best to please Jehovah do make altar to burn sacrifices, as much as they could to please their creator. So carbon momoxide, and carbondioxide was right then put into the atmosphere. Because their disobedience to God Jehovah also caused alteration to atmospheric conditions. It is clearer now in our 21st century because of Industrialization, Mining, and Technologies. God by Jesus Christ will do this repair. Our concern should be the fifth angel action and the sixth angel action. This also are human activities. This is my concern and President George Bush as a Prophet may have this in mind though hard for him to express. Missle defend shield is one action taken to avoid earth dissaster, by cold war. Nuclear war must be avoided if possible. This will also preserve Rome as a city and her people. I've written about this to submitte to classmates.

Should you Feel Proud about your job compared to former classmates who are succeeding?

and your former classmates are managers, executives, this and that. Engineers, etc. while you are just an entry level clerk doing filing etc, even having gone to University. I'm totally fine with it but i feel society, my parents, and anyone else that would know me would think i'm stupid, low life, that i should be doing better. And yes, maybe i should be doing better but i don't have the personality to do other things, like i'm not good at talking, so customer service by phone and things like that is not my thing, i work better in the background.

You should be proud of your own achievement/s. What is important is whether you are happy and contented. I bet you that an Engineer or a Manager may not even know how to do filing.

My son is 10, and in the fifth grade, well one of his classmates was in a tragic car crash yesterday and she passed away last night. I have not let him go to any wakes yet,just dont want him to see that and that be his last memory. My sons friends parents are also undecided about what to do. I cant even imagine how the mom feels, or would feel if none of her daughters friends showed, but they are so young. any feed back is greatly appreciated. ty in advance!

I think your son is too young to go to a wake, and his reactions and emotions could make things harder for the family members. I think that if you wanted to take him to the funeral, that would be a more appropriate time for his to say his goodbyes. Yes, it will still be a traumatic event, but at least he will not have to see his friends body. That takes a serious toll on a childs mind and heart. I attended a couple of funerals as a kid, and I can tell you, even now as an adult when I try to recollect a memory of someone whose wake I attended, the first picture that pops in to my head, is seeing them laying in a casket. It is very hard for me and I have to dig deep to remember that person alive and well. At one of the funerals, of a friend of mine sister, I actually went into shock and had to be taken out by ambulance. I also think, that my early exposure to death, and seeing a body has alot to do with my deep rooted fear of death.

I know this is a hard decision for you to make . Just consider all aspects before you allow him to go, it is not always best. My thoughts are with you. Good luck.

Reply:I would let your son decide if he wants to go. Make sure he knows that you will be there with him if he decides to go. Also, let him know that if at any time he wants to leave once he is there, you 2 will get up quietly, and leave. Make sure you watch your child closely for signs of depression after the funeral, and make sure you talk about the fact that it's okay to be sad. Also, if you are religious, telling your child that his friend is in heaven now, as an angel, she is happy, and he will see her again someday. She will live on in his heart and mind, and that she can still see him from heaven. If he chooses not to go, you can still get a babysitter for him, and attend yourself. Another thing to consider is that he can still show his respects by contributing to a memorial for her, sending flowers, writing a letter, planting a garden in her memory, or attending a get-together, something that remembers the good things about her life, and focuses less on what happened to her. Whatever you 2 decide to do, make sure you talk to him about his loss, and watch out for signs of depression.

If it were me, I would go with your son to the funeral home and let him decide if he wants to see her, explain to him what he will see so he can make up his own mind. Just being there will teach your son respect and show the parents of the girl that you care. If he does decide to see her Im sure it will be very hard for him to understand but just be there for him and help him get through it. Im sure everything will be ok. Again, so sorry to hear that such a young girl lost her life. :)

Too often we try and shelter our children from these emotional times and I truly believe it is not healthy. Make sure you talk to him about what happened and his feelings on it. Let him know it is okay to cry if he needs to. Also this is a time that you should talk to him about how even though his friend's body is there to see her soul is in heaven with the Lord.

Not the wake, but the funeral yes, as long as it was closed casket. Your son does not need to see the friend. Memories need to be of the child laughing and playing, not stiff lying in a coffin. While we as adults were having a hard time dealing with things the girls were playing in the park with their friends. My young children were allowed to go to both the wake and the funeral...they got to say goodbye to their "aunt" and to be there for their friends who needed some support. It generated a few questions and fears about death...but that is also something that at some point we have to talk to our children about..be it a pet...a grandmother...or a friend. Emphasise that even though sometimes life is short everyone makes a difference. And that his friend will still be in his heart and that it's o.k. to talk about her...and remember her...and be sad that she's not here...but look around at the wake and see how many people she touched and how many people knew love because of her...and celebrate that life...and know that you have an angel watching over you now.

Sorry for the ramble...but this is something we recently dealt with and I was surprised how even at 7 my son was able to make sense of things in his own way...he asked many questions...but now he's o.k. with things and looks at life as a gift to be enjoyed.

He says his bigger classmates drink , with parents' consent, 4 cans the most. But my son weighs around 50 kilos only. I scolded him for drinking a can of beer before dinner. He wanted to drink with his dad who visits the kids during weekends only.

What kind of liquor, beer or wine you allow your under-aged son to drink in your own home is your private business. You should not allow him to go to parties where other parents are serving alcohol. So much trouble can follow, that I can't even begin to describe it. What his peers are doing is not the standard you should measure his activities by. You are the parent, and he is your child and responsibility. He will probably drink a bit on the sly, but you should not sanction this behavior. Even high school students can become alcoholics. If it were me, I would allow him just one glass of wine or champagne or a single beer, on New Years Eve, in your own home and under your supervision, until he is 18 years old. Then you might consider relaxing the rules a bit, but only in your own home. Once he is in college and it is out of your control totally. Once he start to drive or reaches the age where his friends are driving, there are there things to stress to him: never drink and drive, and never ever get in a car with anyone who has been drinking (even your own adult friends!) Finally, you should discourage him from experimenting with drugs.

Reply:I would not allow my 14 year old son to drink any alcohol. It is illegal and the classmates parents could be prosecuted. There are laws against serving alcohol to minors in all 50 states. You should keep your son home and explain the facts to him. I would also check with your local law enforcement about what you can do about the friends parents that let him drink.

Go to a very cheap store, buy a lot of candy and some plastic wrap/bows... if you can write a silly poem about how much they mean to you, or draw a silly picture, or even just a little note for each one about a memory of them, or what they mean to you, do so. Hand them out, a few pieces of candy and something personalized is really nice. :)

How about if each of you sits down and crafts Christmas Ornaments for each other -- the cost of the supplies is very cheap (and can be found at any of the discounters or even in nature) -- things like pinecones decorated with glitter and little beads (then a string to hang up as a Christmas Ornament), another can make funky Christmas Stockings from old scrap Fabric swatches, using papers to make paper chains for the trees, anything and everything -- that you can then put away and cherish as a special sharing for this final High School year ... and which you will have with you for the rest of your life.

Just put one foot in front of the other .I know you dont want to hear that , but its that simple. If I survived it, you can. Im 42 now, but it was just as tough with all the teachers, pier problems, and fights. Be your self, avoid getting into clicks, do the homework, and find ways to burn off your stress at home with running or exercise. Dont worry, we all make, look at it as a challenge.

Now we're getting somewhere! :)

You can't do it all at once--you have to change how you present yourself. And that is a learned skill. In the short term, there's a really good way to keep from annoying people: be quiet. I don't mean not talk to anyone--but make an effort not to talk more than you need to--especially in class.

But that's just a band-aid to keep you from hurting yourself while you learn to change how you deal with others.

First--go find two poems: "If" by Rudyard Kipling and "Desiderata" (frget the author). You can get them online. The core of what they have to say is 2 things:

1) It's not what you know that counts--it s what you do whith what you know--and especially how you treat others.

2) You don't know as much as you think you do.

Number 2 is especially hardto learn--especially if you really are smarter than average. I know from hard experience. In fact, at this point in my life--with 3 graduate degrees--my biggest lesson is to find out how little I know.

And itmeans others--almost everyone around you--knows something you don't. It may be a smalll thing--likehow to do some craft (e.g. making candles). Or like a very nice lady I know whho has only a high school diploma--but her willingness to help others is an inspiration to everyone who knows her.

Now, first of all--the fact that you are willing to say "how can I take the responsibility to chenge myself, instead of blaming others" puts you well on the way to fixing the problem--and congratulations for that.

Next step: think about what you do and say with the following things in mind:

1) is what I'm about to say about Me? If the answer is yes, then unless you are answering a specivic question, either change what you are going to say--or shut up.

2) Am I offering unasked-for advice. If so--don't If someone wants your advice, they'll ask.

3) In class (or anywhere else) are you taking center stage all the time? And here's a hint--answering questions or participating in discussions is part of class--but for a while, make it a policy to wait a minute--give others a chance to take the lead.

4) Every time you talk to someone, try to notice some positive--how they're dressed, something they say, anything. And compliment them. Always make it something real--thet is real, don't fake it--ever. (On occasion, you'll meet people where there isn't anything positive--but that 's rare). And the converse is true--don't criticize. Give an honest answer if someone asks, though.

5) This is actually the number 1 thing--but it takes work. Learn to laugh at yourself. That takes practice--but not taking yourself too seriously is vital.

6) All of the above--in one way or the other--can boil down to this: stop focusing on yourself and focus --in a positive and respectful way--on people around you.

7) Look for and learn about people who are positive role models--people who have done important things--well beyond what you or I are ever likely to do. The best way to develop some real humility is to make a point of rubbing your own nose in just how far beyond you some people are. How can I get a picture to show up on my profile on classmates.com? I already have photos in an album, but can't figure out how to make it my profile image. Thanks! Also, what does "now" and "then" under the profile image mean? And how can I use that?

Log-in to your account. Click on the "Profile" tab and go to "Edit Profile" There should have already been a picture that you'd uploaded when you first registered; but if there's not, then just click on "Replace" and upload the image that you want to be seen on your profile.

"now" and "then" are just two pictures shown on your profile. It's kindda like saying "This is you now" and "this is you in future"

Well, I am taking these classes where there are a few Chinese students and it seems like all they do is talk, talk, talk with their other fellow classmates who speaks 100% fluent Chinese...I grew up in Cali so I click with other nationalites quicker...mostly Hispanics, Caucasians, and African Americans. But I want to meet more Chinese people but it is hard for me because I don't speak it 24/7 in public...an exception would be to my parents and siblings. I can't carry a very long conversation in Chinese but bits and pieces, here and there. How can I ask them to hang out or just be more comfortable around them? If I don't approach them, they don't vice versa.Lol.

I know what you mean. I'm Chinese and live in CA myself. I also click with other nationalities and most of Chinese friends speak English because we're all born in the US and don't know much Chinese. But I have another group of Chinese friends who were born in China, HK, Macau, Taiwan, etc. and they like to speak and hang out with other Chinesey people. I don't think they are trying to exclude other people, it's just that they understand/relate to each other better I suppose. We're actually really good friends though, but at times I feel leftout because sometimes I'm not totally sure what they're saying and because I'm so Americanized I don't always relate. The only advice I can give you is watch those Chinese tv series or listen to Chinese music. They are always talking about them. Or invite them to eat desserts (preferably at those Asian places that serve tapioca, fresh fruit, mango pudding, etc). They also love to go kareoke so practice that singing voice!

Honestly, while I was living in California, I noticed the same thing. Quite a few of the young Asian individuals like to muster with other Asians. I've never met one that was stand-offish towards any other nationality, but it's still a little disappointing to me.

I'm primarily referring to college students, here, but thinking back to when I was in high school, I remember that people hung out with who they could relate with the most on a superficial level.

I'm not saying that it's an act of ignorance, I'm saying that it's probably just what they're most comfortable with.

sometimes my school would organize some events such as sports or other type of events, whenever a competition begins(in sports) my friend or classmates would start cheering screaming and booing whenever something goes wrong. I have no idea why i don't feel as hyper as them .

Is something wrong with you? Are you a stiff or a zombie? Are you terribly depressed or inhibited? In that case you could work on yourself to open up.

But maybe you are like WASP's or Scandinavians , they are less expressive than Sicilians and Jamaicans and Latinas.

People are different. You are different than people in your school are. Being different is normal. It's not necessarily a problem.

A school is a place where diversity should be tolerated.
Reply:you should go to the docter. tell them about your lack of enthuziasm and excitement. it could be a number of things. you seem like a teenager. it could be something as simple as hormones. or something like underactive thyroid or even depression. but you should go to the docter just incase. High school was the worst time of my life, and I didn't graduate, so I don't get invitations to reunions. Although I'm now living in my hometown again, I wouldn't know one of my classmates if I were to run into him or her on the street.

My sister goes to reunions and says occasionally someone will ask about me, but basically it's a closed chapter. There is only one person I miss, and we stayed close until I moved away.

no, we all change in our lives, and would have little, if anything in common with them today....this is exactly what I found at my 40th reunion....interesting experience. Along the way, I did try to contact a few via email when I found their address(es). Got a reply, we wrote for a short time, but it was obvious we shared little, if anything. No big deal.

Whatever it was we needed to form lifelong friendships probably was lacking in us as youths.

Some of the people(jerk jock types, snooty little witches) that I had the least respect for way back when, have actually turned into very nice people. Seems that they had some very rude awakenings after high school and the results, for the most part, were a positive improvement in their personalities and outlook on life.

Our 30th reunion was one of the most memorable and happy occasions of my adult life. I've stayed in touch with a lot of people that I hadn't seen since high school and formed new friendships with many of the classmates that I never dreamed I would have anything in common with. It was a great experience and I would recommend to anyone that has reservations about attending a reunion, to go ahead and go.

I attended the 10 and 20 year reunions as well, and honestly, did not enjoy them, but there was something special about the 30th. I think maybe ALL of us had grown up by then.........

I have gone to several class reunions, and you say hi to some, then everyone seems to go to their little cliques like in school. But, there were 19 of us who got commissioned from the ranks in the Navy and went to officer training together. One has passed away. I frankly enjoyed seeing people I hadn't seen in years. Some of them were still the jerks they were in hs, but alot of them had matured into really lovely people. Many brought their families with them.

I still see some of the old graduates and teachers who stayed in town or returned to it .

HS was a long time ago and a lot of water's gone under the bridge.

I'd ask to have my name put on the reunion list , there were lots of people at the reunion who didn't graduate and nobody really gave two hoots, times and circumstances were different then.

My thirtieth year graduating from university comes up this fall, now that one I'm not sure I want to go to LOL.

I know this might seem like a narrow view but when you think about it it makes more sense the more you think about it. I missed my 5th class reunion because I was in Japan, my 10th because I was in Sardinia, my 20th because I was in Israel. I finally made my 30th. Someplace along the line, someone in the next town over with the same name as mine died. Several people (who must suffer from reading comprehension disability...the guy was 12 years older than I) thought I was dead. A lot of funny looks when I walked into the reception at a local club in 1995. At the party the next night, my friend from 2nd grade looked at me, then walked right by me as I spoke to him. I got a notice in 05 about the upcoming reunion in October, but I never heard another word. The gal who sent out the notices lives across the street from my sister and had the same doc my mother did. She insists she sent out the info for registering for the 05 reunion, which I never got. Oh well...I was in Charleston, SC on a job anyway.

Out of a class of 164, I actually ran into 2 people while I was in the Navy. I checked out the alumni list and of those that were found, about 80% still live in and within 50 miles of our town. The furthest from Delaware lives in Seattle.
Reply:I attended Catholic school from kindergarten all the way through High school. Grade school was both sex's, but High school was girls only. I did attend the 1st reunion, but found that all the clicky, pretty girls, were now all (how do I say this)

overweight. All the people that I knew growing up from school, lived in the same general neighborhood, and we were all close. I also found that we did not have the same things in common any longer, and had moved on with our lives. So I did not bother to attend any further reunions.

I do still think about my childhood girlfriend,and she used to see my brother, and ask how I was. I would like to see her again and reminisce, but alas, I do think that we would now have little to talk about. Life goes on, and the past is the past.

i ams tudyiny in MOTHERWELL COLLEGE, i detected my classmates discriminate against me. somebody quietly sticked glue on my hair. i guess correctly is who done it, they knew excatly who done it. they laugh very happy when he quietly sticked glue on my hair. even just a little drop glue on my hair but took ages for me to washed it away.

they thought i was stupid. i am not stupid. i don't talk to them in the class because english is my second language, i need more time to do my assignments.

they always making noises, playing, saying wild words in the class. some of them even went to the pub in lunch time then came late to the class. eventhough they are adults but they behavior like high school kids even worst than primary school kids.

I don't really want to give out junk food and I don't want to spend much. My first thought was a craft kit that maybe I could assemble the pieces to but not being craftly I have no idea. Some of my son's classmates aren't even 3 yet so it's not easy. Any ideas? What are you doing?

Ideas for presents for my son's preschool classmates?
I usually get those tall, clear christmas bags and I get pretzel sticks and dip them in chocolate. It's fun for my daughter to help me with, it's inexpensive and it's healthy!
Reply:Get some little chinese take-out boxes and fill them with tiny goodies. You can get the boxes at a craft store or party supply store for like 50 cents. Put in some small pieces of candy, maybe a little box of crayons, a couple stickers, and maybe a small toy like a toy car for the boys and a plastic bracelet for the girls.
Reply:Little gift bags - like for birthday parties. All you need is a couple stickers, maybe a bouncy ball, bubbles or a temporary tattoo. They love getting their own little bag, and anything inside works great! Target has a dollar section up front and you can find things like holiday post-its, stickers, etc. They are probably too young for a craft project without direction. If you're really tight on money, you can use brown paper lunch bags sealed with a colorful sticker.

Reply:A great idea for preschool gifts would be to do a book exchange. Ask the other parents if they would be willing to do this. It is simple, and every class I know of that has done this LOVES it.

If you are looking to send gifts to the entire class from your son, I would try to keep it pretty simple. Maybe a goody bag with stickers, pencil, candy, and other little "trinkets" would be a good idea. You wouldn't have to spend too much and it would be super simple.

You can send them a little greeting for free and then they can send one back. Other than that. . .you can try to leave a message on your school's message board for them to respond to since the boards are free.

You could always try a temporary paid account or a preview if you'd like to just get in touch with them and then cancel the paid account.

yeah im the president, and it really bugs me.my classmates are okay but somtimes they loose their respect in our teacher... and sometimes they are too noisy. I try and join them but the problem is. whenever tehy are noisy, the teacher is looking at me as if it was my fault. what am I going to do. They say I am fun to be with. so I dont want to be a fun sucker. Its just that I want us to be good in our values grade. help!

Reply:Ummm... I hope you didn't write like this on your job applications because that would explain a lot. How about trying to spell your word out? It doesn't take too much longer to write properly. I mean, you even spelled "engineering" wrong! Honestly, I know that it probably doesn't seem like that bog of a deal to you, but if you write this way then it is likely that you also talk this way, and that is not professional at all. Also, If you have a Myspace or a Facebook page, then potential employers also look at that. So, if they see a page riddled with immaturity and improper speech, they are going to be much less likely to hire you.

Congratulations on getting to third year in engineering- that's a tough program and doing it shows you're smart. I'll bet you're good in math.

Your present knowledge of basic English usage is not good enough to get you hired. I suspect you speak as incorrectly as you write and that will get you no where in the business world.

Reply:well with classmates or myspace, you can just look up the name of the school and find kids that regestered that they went there for a certain year. therefore looking up ten "toms" and sorting them out, might be easier than some big huge search that you might have to pay for. i found a bunch of old classmates on both of those sites. also, if its that big if a deal try calling a mutual friend and finding out thier last name...did you ever buy a yearbook? that can help too....good luck!!!

I think you should contact them. Its always good to hear from people you havent spoke to in a while just to see how life has been treating them and whats been going on. I received something like that when I graduated from 8th grade (and Im grad. from 12th grade in a week :])and many of us still keep in contact (some more so than others). BUt it is always good especially if you were tightly bonded with your class. I would, it wouldn't hurt.

i will be having my prom night on the 19th. However, the holiday to yunnan with my relatives is on 17th. hence, i intend to miss it and go for my prom night. However, my mum changed the date of the holiday for me so everyone will be leaving on the 20th. The problem is that i got a 3 days 3 nights party with my graduating classmates after the prom night. If i go to the holiday, i will miss the party, and i dont know how long it will take to meet up my classmates after going to different schools. And is Yunnan fun? it seems boring to me, and it cost S$1300 for the trip. But my mum and godmother hope that i could go too.

I just couldnt make up my mind. Please give me some suggestions. Thank you. :)

How do you deal with snide comments from classmates?

I'm 17 years old and started an excerise and fitness college course just over a month ago. I'm getting horrible remarks because i'm not able to keep up with the practical work (excercise). I'm a recovering anorexic, my BMI is still classed as 'underweight'. Although i've put on a lot of weight since i've got better, and getting nearer to the 'average' mark, it's left me with a lot of health problems and has damaged my insides. So I find cardio work very hard. I often have to step to one side, and the girls make snide comments that i'm lazy, and moan to my tutor that she's letting me get away without doing any work. I'm pretty sure my tutor thinks i'm lazy too. My tutor and classmates dont know about my 'condition', and I don't want to tell them because i'm trying to move on. I go out running everyday at my own pace so I can gradually get fitter, so i'm trying my best. But no one sees it that way. What should I do about the critism i'm getting?

I appreciate you have worked really hard to get to this point, probably a lot harder than some of your class mates to maintain their fitness.

I think you should tell your tutor, for 2 reasons. Firstly it will give her an understanding as to your fitness level, secondly it will give her an insight to your strength of character. Express that you're not doing it for the sympathy but so she can help you keep up this regime.

As for the others, ignore it. You are far stronger inside than they realise. If you were not you would not have got this far.

Reply:Maybe at the end of one of your classes you could turn to some of them and say, wow, you guys are really good at this...I'm having a hard time keeping up! I lost a lot of muscle mass with a health problem I used to have, but I hope I can be as good as you some day....kill them with kindness while letting them know you are NOT lazy and you are trying. Maybe they will be a little more sympathetic. In the meantime, try eating more proteins to build your muscles back up.
Reply:People generally are annoyed at what seems like thoughtless behaviour. People have different stamina levels, and for different reasons. For a start, they should respect you for that anyway, whether they know you used to be anorexic or not.

Also, it might be a bit of jealous as (not to sound offensive) you're probably a bit thinner than they are, which could possibly be making them feel large in comparison.

I don't think you should tell them about your 'condition' unless you really feel the need to, it's understandable that you don't want to tell them - and that's perfectly fine.

The best way to go about dealing with them is to try and ignore them, half of the reason they are doing it is to get attention from you and to see a reaction. They're just being insensitive and bitchy - don't let that get you down.

I do Performing Arts and it's a lot of physical work too, and I have low blood pressure, making me feint if I do too much work, but at the beginning I couldn't do very much at all, and the rest of the class always mentioned it to the teacher. I suppose I solved this by letting people know that I had a problem - but it's not the only way to solve it.
Reply:How come you chose an exercise and fitness course when you are not able to do the practical work? Perhaps you should be studying something that you are able to do. I can understand why the other students think you are lazy if you are not completing the same work as they have to. They do not know your reasons why you are not doing it so what else will they think? Even if they knew the reason why you are unable to do the practical work, then they may still think that perhaps you should have delayed the course until you were recovered enough to do it properly. I know I would. You will just have to ignore their comments and do your best to do the work as much as you are able.
Reply:Ignore your silly classmates - you have come through far more than them and shown real strength of character. I think you should tell your tutor in confidence about the anorexia - she should know of anything that could hinder your coursework. She might well be able to help.

If she knows your condition she will be in a position to step in and stop these silly little bullies - though she should have been doing that anyway.

See these idiots for what they are and don't take any notice. You'll do OK.

Reply:Sit down and have an honest talk with the tutor. You don't have to explain it to your classmates, but you should (somewhat) explain it to your tutor. You are under no obligation to disclose everything, but what you should say is that you have a medical condition that caused you some internal damage. Tell him/her that you feel are doing your best to keep up with everything and ask if there is anything s/he can suggest you do (maybe in the way of strength training) to improve your endurance. In any event make it clear that your effort is sincere and that you are concerned aboput the comments and the perception from yor classmates. Whatever else happens do not overdo it trying to impress anyone in the class, you owe them no explanation and you do not want to further jeopardize your health. Good luck!
Reply:You could neutralize a lot of their negativity by being nice to them even when they're being perceivably mean. This is mostly done by body language moreso than what you'll say to them. Also, unless you're going to tell them about your condition, they'll think you're normal. Excellent! That's what you want. So take it as a compliment. Isn't "Lazy person" better than "recovering anorexic"? So take that as a step in the proper direction and keep doing the things you're doing to improve health. Proper nutrition will make the road seem so much shorter, because recovery will be quick when you do that now. Try to really FEEL healthy. Because you mostly act on how you feel moreso than what you think you want. If you're saying you want to be healthy or fit. You're really saying I don't have any of those things and isn't that a terrible thing. Rather see yourself different and pretend like you're playing a game that you're already and healthy and fit. WIthout limiting psychology around you, it should make things that much easier. By all means if you need to stop or rest, stop and rest, but just make sure you don't believe the stop and rest is due to any health maladies. Believe it's just because for the moment you're not fully in shape. But soon you will be. And with that kind of hope and positive direction for yourself, things will get better fast. You have to intend for things to work out, and when you really believe and think and act all on that level, when all systems are go - so to speak, then you'll be on the fast track to wherever you're point. In this case, to health, fitness, and vitality.

They are judging by what they see, which is a typical trait with most people.

Reply:I think that is horrible of them to make judgments. I somewhat understand. I have a health condition that no one can see, and it can cause me to not be able to keep up with the world on some days. Since you don't want to say anything to them, just keep doing what you are doing and try your best to ignore them and know that you are bettering yourself! Realize that they do not know your condition, and people will always talk, but you are taking steps to recovery! You should be proud of yourself! Stay strong and know that you are on the right path.
Reply:You're doing really well doing a bit of running on your own. However, you do need good 'fuel' ie nutrition for all this physical activity and to bring yourself back to full health. I hope you're following advice given on this. You might just want to have a word with your tutor in confidence. If she is aware of your situation, she may be able to offer some helpful advice. Unless you tell your classmates, you will have to put up with the snide remarks. However, even if they know the reason why, they might continue to do this as they are ignorant. be gentle on yourself and I hope you never starve yourself again. We all need fuel,but make it good food (with the odd treat!).

Reply:Everyone struggles with something. It just shows that you have good willpower to continue with something you find difficult. Perhaps you could talk to your tutor in confidence, that's what matters - your course - what other participants think of you isn't as important, but it is if it's upsetting you. Keep at it and you will improve.

I've finally got in touch with several Classmates. And we hope to be able to get to meet, soon. But it's taken an awful long time to get in touch with anyone.

I did 2 people in a whole year of trying so it turned out pretty lame really because I couldn't connect with those I was looking for .

Reply:No. My school has there own alumni website with a message board. Its great and has over a thousand members. I also search through schools in myspace.
